"Report" reports that Shahriyar Mamedyarov, a member of the Azerbaijani men's national team, which won a silver medal for finishing second in the European Team Chess Championship held in Batumi, Georgia, said this in a statement to journalists.
He noted that they fought hard for the first place: "We fought for the first place until the last round. There could have been chances to win first place. It's just that the Ukrainian team participated incredibly in the tournament. They defeated everyone except us. They only lost to us. In fact, we also defeated the champion team. S.Mamedyarov emphasized that the Azerbaijani team has won many medals in the European Championship: "We are the first in Europe in terms of the number of these medals. We have also won the most titles. I hope that our other young people will also become stronger. In a few years, we will give our places to those young people.
