Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen has won the World Rapid Chess Championship held in Doha, Qatar.
İdman.Biz reports that Carlsen finished the tournament in first place with 10.5 points after 13 rounds.
This victory is Carlsen's sixth title in the history of the World Rapid and Blitz Championships. He previously won these tournaments in 2014, 2015, 2019, 2022, and 2023.
It should be noted that this is not the first time Doha has hosted the World Rapid Championship. The city also hosted this competition in 2016. That year, Ukrainian Vasyl Ivanchuk won the rapid championship, Russian Sergey Karjakin was the best in blitz, and Ukrainian Anna Muzychuk won in both formats among women.
