The closing ceremony of the "Lankaran Open" festival, held within the framework of the "Chess Tour Azerbaijan" project on the initiative of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, has taken place. Sport24.az reports that the ceremony was attended by Emin Guliyev, Deputy Head of the Lankaran City Executive Power, and Mahir Mammadov, President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Vice-President of the International Chess Federation.
Khagan Ahmad, who scored 7 points in 9 rounds in Group A, surpassed all his rivals and became the winner of the "Lankaran Open" competition. Vitaliy Bernardskiy and our representative Rustam Rustamov, who scored 6.5 points each, shared the 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
In Group B, Alisafa Zeynalli took first place with 8 points. Alakbar Zeynalli and Parviz Mammadli finished the tournament in second and third places.
Rapid and blitz competitions were also held within the framework of the "Lankaran Open" festival. Rustam Rustamov won the rapid tournament, and Khagan Ahmad won the blitz competition.
It should be noted that 4 countries were represented in the "Lankaran Open" tournament. 38 chess players competed in Group A, and 140 in Group B. The next competition related to the "Chess Tour Azerbaijan" project will be organized in Guba.
