Azerbaijani teenage chess player Khagan Ahmad has become the champion of the European Youth Championship held in Budva, Montenegro.
According to Idman.Biz, the chess player competing in the open category up to 14 years old took first place by scoring 7.5 points in nine rounds.
In addition to Khagan Ahmad's gold medal, two more members of the Azerbaijani team reached the podium. Mehriban Ahmadli (girls under 10) won silver with 7.5 points, and Maryam Aghaverdiyeva (girls under 16) took third place with seven points.
The tournament was held according to the Swiss system and consisted of nine rounds.
