The "Ganja Open 2025" International Chess Festival has kicked off. According to Sport24.az, the festival is organized by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and the Ganja City Executive Authority, sponsored by "SOCAR" and "Papatya Park Premium", and in partnership with "Beyaz" Chess Club and "Sirab". More than 300 chess players from 12 countries are participating in the festival.
Chess players compete in A and B groups in the festival. Competitions in both groups are organized according to the Swiss system, consisting of 9 rounds.
The total prize fund of the festival is 41,200 AZN. The winner of group A will receive 10,000 AZN, while the chess player who takes first place in group B will win 1,100 AZN. Rapid and blitz tournaments are also planned within the framework of the festival.
It should be noted that the festival is held within the framework of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation's "Chess Tour Azerbaijan" project. This is the 7th festival of the project. The festival will conclude on November 17.
