Today, the opening ceremony of the "Baku Open - 2025" International Chess Festival, organized by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, will be held.
Idman.biz reports that the ceremony, which will take place at the Exhibition Center of "Baku Crystal Hall", will start at 14:30.
The President of the International Chess Federation, FIDE official, two-time world champion, winner of the World Chess Olympiad Zhu Chen, and the President of the Turkish Chess Federation Fethi Apaydin have arrived in Baku to participate in the opening ceremony.
It should be noted that the total prize fund of the festival is equal to 55,000 US dollars. More than 700 chess players from 16 countries will participate in the competition. The tournament will also include the Azerbaijan Championship among veteran chess players.
The festival is also part of the "Chess Tour Azerbaijan" project.
