Azerbaijani chess players have made a successful start to their performances at the "Reykjavik Open" tournament held in the capital of Iceland. Sport24.az reports that Eltaj Safarli and Mahammad Muradli represent our country in the competition.
In the first round, Safarli, playing with black pieces, defeated Englishman Thomas Villiers, and Muradli, playing with white pieces, defeated Indian Nilsu Pattnayaka.
It should be noted that 424 chess players are participating in the tournament, which is held according to the Swiss system and will consist of nine rounds.
