Azerbaijani chess players Eltaj Safarli and Gulnar Mammadova have been awarded for their outstanding performance on their respective boards at the European Team Championship held in Batumi, Georgia.
According to "Report", referring to the press service of the Chess Federation, Eltaj Safarli was awarded a gold medal for taking first place on the third board.
The chess player surpassed all his colleagues thanks to 3 wins and 4 draws.
Gulnar Mammadova took third place on the fourth board. The chess player, who won 6 games in 8 rounds, was presented with a bronze medal at the closing ceremony.
At the event, members of the Azerbaijani men's chess team, who took second place in the European Championship, were awarded silver medals, diplomas, and a cup.
It should be noted that the awards were presented by the President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Vice-President of the International Chess Federation, Mahir Mammadov.
