None of the Azerbaijani chess players are in the top ten at the prestigious "Grand Swiss" tournament with a prize fund of $855,000.
According to Idman.biz, Shahriyar Mammadyarov drew with Anton Demchenko (Slovenia) in the competition held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, and dropped to 17th place with 4.5 points.
Rauf Mammadov (3.5 points) and Mahammad Muradli (1.5 points) lost in the seventh round and dropped to 61st and 115th places, respectively. It should be noted that Muradli is losing for the fourth game in a row.
Aydın Suleymanli drew in the reporting round and is in 53rd place with 3.5 points.
Matias Blubaum (Germany) and Sarin Nihal (India) lead the tournament table with 5.5 points each.
In the women's competition, Ulviyya Fataliyeva, who was the leader in the fifth round after victories over the titled Marina Muzychuk (Ukraine) and former Russian Alexandra Kosteniuk (Switzerland), lost for the second time in a row and dropped to 12th place with 4 points.
Khanim Balajayeva and Govhar Beydullayeva won. They occupy the 14th and 44th places with 4 and 2.5 points, respectively.
In the women's competition, Kateryna Lagno (FIDE) leads with 5.5 points.
