Azerbaijani chess players are fighting against a strong team.
"Report" reports that this was stated by the Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation (AShF), Faig Hasanov.
The expert, who made a statement to journalists after the opening ceremony of the qualifying match for the World Championship between the women's chess teams of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in Baku, assessed the chances of both nations:
"This is a match organized by FIDE. The winning side will have the right to participate in the World Championship. 7 countries that will participate in the Mundial are already known. The last team will be the winner of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan pair. The meetings will be held in rapid chess. Uzbekistan has good chess players in its squad. Our team is fighting against a strong team. I see the chances of both teams as equal."
It should be noted that the winner of the pair will be determined tomorrow. The winning side will gain the right to participate in the World Championship, which will be held in Linares, Spain, on November 18-23.
