The 1/64 final stage of the Men's Chess World Cup in Goa, India, has come to an end.
Idman.Biz reports that four Azerbaijani chess players competed in this stage.
Aydın Suleymanli defeated Thai chess player Prina Laohawirapap in both matches, and Nijat Abasov defeated Uzbekistani Muhammedzohid Suyarov in both matches to advance to the next stage.
Our representative Ahmad Ahmadzade lost both games to Surya Shekhar Ganguly (India) and left the World Cup. Read Samadov lost to Italian chess player Lorenzo Lodici with a score of 0.5-1.5 and said goodbye to the tournament.
The 1/32 stage of the World Cup will start on November 4. Shahriyar Mammadyarov and Rauf Mammadov from Azerbaijan will join the competition in this stage. Sh.Mammadyarov will face Gergely Kantor (Hungary), and R.Mammadov will face Rasmus Svane (Romania).
It should be noted that the World Cup will end on November 26. The chess player who takes the first three places in the competition will qualify for the Candidates Tournament.
The total prize fund of the World Cup is 2 million US dollars.
