Talented chess player Yasin Azimov from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has achieved another success.
According to the local bureau of "Report", the International Chess Federation (FIDE) has awarded Yasin Azimov the CM – Candidate Master title. This achievement is a remarkable event for the history of Nakhchivan chess, as the young chess player won this title at the age of only 11.
Currently ranked 2058 in the FIDE rating, Yasin Azimov has been remembered in recent years for a number of significant achievements in both local and international tournaments. Yasin, the gold and silver medalist of the Azerbaijan Championship, achieved a high achievement as the champion of the European School Chess Championship (among 9-year-old boys) held in Durres, Albania in 2023.
For your information, to date, 1 grandmaster, 3 international masters, 1 FIDE master, 2 female FIDE masters, 2 candidate masters, 1 international referee, and 2 FIDE referees have been registered as official degree holders in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
