Rafael Fiziyev has announced when he will arrive in Baku to participate in the "UFC Fight Night" tournament.
İdman.biz reports that the Azerbaijani MMA fighter will arrive in our country a week before the event.
Fiziyev said this in an interview with the "Vestnik MMA" YouTube channel: "As always, I will come to Baku a week before the tournament - on Saturday. Preparation will begin directly on Monday. Baku is in the lowlands and there is less humidity there than in Thailand, so it will be easier for me."
Fiziyev, who is 11th in the UFC lightweight rankings, also answered a question about who he sees as the division champion by the end of this year.
According to the Azerbaijani fighter, Islam Makhachev will retain his belt, and Ilia Topuria will not be able to take the title from him: "Fighting in lightweight is very difficult right now, but I think Islam will retain the championship belt because he is a disciplined and skilled person."
Currently, no official fight has been scheduled for Makhachev, so he can both defend his championship belt and move up to the welterweight division for a second title.
It should be noted that at the UFC tournament to be held on June 21 at the "Baku Crystal Hall", Fiziyev will face Chilean fighter Ignacio Bahamondes.
