Arif Mammadov, President of the Azerbaijan Karate-Do Federation, has suddenly passed away in Batumi, Georgia.
İdman.biz reports that Modern.az contacted Fuzuli Musayev, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation, to learn the details of the incident.
According to Fuzuli Musayev, Arif Mammadov traveled to Batumi for a karate competition attended by his students: "However, sudden health problems arose during the trip and he was urgently hospitalized. According to the initial diagnosis, doctors stated that there was freezing in his lungs (a pneumonia process similar to hypothermia - ed.). His condition rapidly worsened and he fell into a coma. We had to evacuate him to a hospital in Turkey."
According to the Vice-President, he was in the same hospital as Arif Mammadov at the time, but no precise information has yet been obtained about the specific medical diagnosis that caused the death.
It should be noted that Arif Mammadov previously served as Deputy Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
