Azerbaijani boxer Yusif Agakishiyev (75 kg), who faced referee bias at the European Schoolboys Boxing Championships in Zlatibor, Serbia, believes that justice will prevail.
İdman.biz reports that the boxer himself stated this in an interview with "Report".
He said that in the final, his score was deducted by the referee despite being completely superior to the Serbian boxer: "I was fighting the local boxer Viktor Maystrovic in the final. Even though I was clearly winning and landing proper blows, the referee deducted my score. He warned me that I was hitting with the palm of my hand. But as seen in the videos, that wasn't the case. The opponent didn't even land a single blow on me in the first round. But for some reason, a biased decision was made and the score was given to my Serbian opponent. That's why my coach couldn't stand it, ran out of patience, and entered the ring. The president of the International Boxing Association (IBA), Umar Kremlev, said in a statement that the referee would be banned from boxing for life. Our federation also sent a letter to the IBA. They reviewed it and saw that I had won the fight. I believe that justice will prevail and the victory will be returned to me. Because I was completely superior to my opponent".
It should be noted that Y. Agakishiyev, who faced Serbian Viktor Maystrovic in the final match of the European Championship, was deprived of his championship. The chief referee of the fight, Stefan Subalevski from North Macedonia, made biased decisions in favor of the opponent, and the Serbian athlete was declared the winner in the prematurely stopped match.
Following a letter of protest addressed to the International Boxing Association by the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation regarding the incidents, the president of the organization, Umar Kremlev, announced on his personal social media account that Stefan Subalevski would be banned from refereeing for life.
