The European Schoolboys and Schoolgirls Boxing Championships have concluded in Zlatibor, Serbia.
Idman.biz reports that the Azerbaijani national team finished the competition with 3 gold, 10 silver, and 9 bronze medals.
In the final, Abbasali Mammadli (48 kg) faced Armenian Davit Dunyamalyan. Our boxer defeated his opponent with a score of 4:1 (27:30, 30:27, 29:28, 29:28, 29:28) and won the title of European champion.
Nurlan Museyibli (66 kg) defeated Russian Albert Fedotenkov 4:1 (29:28, 30:27, 30:27, 29:28, 27:30) in the decisive match, while Ziraddin Rustamli (70 kg) completely defeated Serbian Dragan Todorovic, becoming the strongest on the continent.
Among our other boxers, Nasrin Abdullazade (38 kg), Tunca Murshudova (42 kg), Fatima Mammadli (44 kg), Kamala Hasanova (54 kg), Babek Abdullayev (40 kg), Muhammad Kazimzade (42 kg), Nuran Yusibli (46 kg), Eljan Musazade (50 kg), Sabir Rustamov (57 kg), and Yusif Agakishiyev (75 kg) won silver medals, while Aysan Miriyeva (46 kg), Emiliya Beydullayeva (57 kg), Khumar Jafarli (70 kg), Sahib Bakhishli (44 kg), Muhammad Ali (52 kg), Farhad Guliyev (54 kg), Amid Alakbarov (60 kg), Mehran Rasulov (80 kg), and Erdem Tekin (90 kg) won bronze medals.
With this result, our team became the second in Europe in the team standings. Russia took first place (20-3-4).
Winning 3 gold, 10 silver, and 9 bronze medals, our national team also renewed its records in continental championships. In Zlatibor, our team surpassed its previous results in terms of both the quality and number of awards. Before this, our boxers had never won so many gold, silver, and bronze medals in similar competitions.
It should be noted that our national team has so far won 9 medals in Grozny in 2011 and in Banja Luka in 2024. At best, 2 of our boxers have won the title of European champion.
