The World Badminton Federation (BWF) Council meeting was held in Paris, the capital of France.
Idman.biz reports that the meeting, where key management and strategic issues related to the global development of badminton were discussed, brought together BWF Council members from around the world.
Azerbaijan was also represented at the meeting. Taleh Ziyadov, President of the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation (ABF), participated in the meeting as a BWF Council member representing Europe.
Taleh Ziyadov was elected to the BWF Council for a four-year term at the 86th BWF Annual General Meeting held in Xiamen, China in April 2025.
The BWF Council represents 203 member countries worldwide and unites 600 million badminton fans and 300 million players. The work of the Council focuses on strategic planning, management control and promotion of badminton development across all continents.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan achieved an important achievement at the world championship - our representative Ade Resky Dvіchayo, who is in 78th place in the international ranking, defeated Japanese athlete Koki Watanabe, who is in 19th place in the world ranking, in the first round. This victory demonstrated the increasing competitive power of international badminton in our country.
