President of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation (AVF) Shahin Baghirov met with young female volleyball players and coaches in Nakhchivan.
Idman.biz reports that the meeting took place at the Olympic Sports Complex named after Ilham Aliyev.
The meeting was attended by Ilgar Nuriyev, a member of the AVF Board, Vugar Aliyev, director of the AVF Nakhchivan branch, parents of young volleyball players, and other guests. The meeting provided detailed information about the work done to develop volleyball in Nakhchivan and the conditions created for athletes and coaches.
Speaking later, Sh. Baghirov spoke about the work done by the AVF to increase the mass character and development of volleyball in our country, and noted that the complex measures implemented in accordance with the federation's strategic action program resulted in significant progress in Nakhchivan. It was emphasized that the teams representing Nakhchivan successfully participated in the Azerbaijani championships of boys and girls volleyball players of lower age categories, which were held for the first time this year in our country. About 15 Nakhchivan volleyball players were invited to national teams. The President of the Federation gave recommendations to young athletes and wished them success.
Sh. Baghirov and officials also watched the training process of teenagers. The head of the AVF also met with the parents of young athletes. The President of the Federation said that the support of parents to teenagers is very important and thanked them for it. At the same time, he expressed his belief that potentially talented young people will successfully perform in national teams in the coming years.
