Shahin Chatma, the head coach of the Azerbaijan U-16 women's volleyball team, spoke about the chances of our volleyball players winning at the III CIS Games.
The Turkish specialist, who gave an interview to Idman.biz, stated that they are determined to achieve high results in the competitions currently held at the Ganja Sports Palace.
He stated that they are fully determined to defeat the Uzbekistan team to advance to the semi-finals and then to the finals: "Yes, I understand that if we reach the finals, we will most likely be waiting for a very strong Russian team there. But if you think that this will deter us, you are mistaken. I have defeated Turkey and Russia many times, why shouldn't I do it with Azerbaijan?!".
It should be noted that Shahin Chatma led the Turkish U-16 team from 2011 to 2021, during which time he led his team to both European and world championships.
The head coach also touched upon the success of "Qarabağ" in the Champions League: "Did you see Qarabağ's victory yesterday? Who could have imagined 10–15 years ago that an Azerbaijani club would not only play in the main stage of the Champions League, but also win two consecutive victories there? You just need to work patiently. Azerbaijani women's volleyball has good traditions, but there has simply been no children's and youth volleyball for a long time. Now it is necessary to develop it and keep young people who can form the core of the main team in 7–8 years".
