The draw ceremony for the Women's European Volleyball Championship has been held. Sport24.az reports that Jalil Jafarov, advisor to the President of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation (AVF), member of the Board of Directors of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), Elgar Baghirov, member of the AVF Board of Directors, and Ayshen Abdulazimova, volleyball player of our national team, also participated in the event.
The event was held at the famous Norman-Swabian Castle in Bari, Italy.
As a result of the draw, the opponents of the Azerbaijani national team, which will participate in the European Championship for the 11th time in a row, have been determined. The matches of Group C will be held in our country, which is one of the hosts of the championship. Our national team's opponents in the group will be Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Romania and Spain.
Our team must be in the top 4 in the group to qualify for the 1/8 finals.
It should be noted that the European Championship will be hosted by Azerbaijan, Turkey, Czech Republic and Sweden from August 21 to September 6, 2026.
