The opponents of the Azerbaijani men's and women's national volleyball teams in the European League (CEV Volleyball European League 2026) have been determined. According to Sport24.az, the opponents of our teams in the group stage were determined based on the current CEV ranking.
The women's national team is currently ranked 27th. Accordingly, the team will face Sweden, Estonia, North Macedonia, Spain, Israel and Switzerland.
The men's team is ranked 38th. The national team will face Greece, Sweden, Romania, Spain, Portugal and Hungary in the group stage of the European League.
According to the regulations, 24 women's and 27 men's teams participate in the competition. According to the tournament schedule, the first 6 teams (if the hosts of the semi-final and final games are determined in advance) or the first 4 teams will qualify for the next stage.
In the end, the teams that will take 1-4 places will get a ticket to the European Championship to be held in 2028.
It should be noted that the competition, which has been organized in the format of "Golden European League" and "Silver European League" since 2018, will be held under the name "European League" from next year. The tournament is a qualifier for the European Championship and brings ranking points to the participants.
