It has become known when the number of teams that will represent Azerbaijan in volleyball in European Cups will be determined.
In response to Idman.Biz's inquiry, the press service of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation reported that this information will be announced in mid-June - after the number of quotas allocated to the country by the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) is determined.
The Federation added that the Azerbaijani champions of the 2025/2026 season may participate in European Cups, but this primarily depends on the capabilities of the clubs themselves.
Previously, Jalil Jalilov, the head coach of the current champion of the Men's Higher League - the "Xilasedici" team, stated that his team intends to compete in the Champions League.
It should be noted that three main tournaments are held in European club volleyball under the CEV flag: the CEV Champions League, the CEV Cup and the CEV Challenge Cup.
Let us remind you that in the 2025/2026 season, Azerbaijan was represented in European Cups by two men's teams: "Azerreyl" and "Xilasedici". Jalilov's players reached the 1/16 finals of the Challenge Cup, while "Azerreyl" lost twice in the qualifying rounds: first in the Champions League, then in the CEV Cup.
