Members of the Azerbaijan U-18 national team made many mistakes in the games of the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) championship. Sport24.az reports that the head coach of the team, Jahangir Seyid Abbasi, made a statement to the press service of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation about this.
He shared his thoughts on the competition held in Daugavpils, Latvia:
"Our rivals were the national teams of Estonia, Ukraine and Georgia. Everyone knows that the Estonian and Ukrainian teams are among the strongest in Europe. Our first meeting was with Estonia, our goal was to start the tournament well by winning. But our players made many mistakes and it was not possible to show the game we wanted. Although there were 3-4 experienced volleyball players in the team, most of the team was participating in an international competition for the first time, and this affected the result."
The expert emphasized that the other rival, Ukraine, is a more experienced team:
"Despite this, we showed a better game compared to the first match and fought a more principled fight. We finished the tournament with a victory against the Georgian national team. In this game, the children played very well and won a confident victory with a score of 3:0. This victory increased the team's self-confidence and created motivation for the next competitions."
