The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has issued a statement regarding Vietnamese volleyball players who failed the gender test.
İdman.biz reports that previously, the FIVB had canceled the results of the Vietnamese team at the U-21 Women's World Championship in Indonesia due to the fact that two players on the team were male.
"As noted in the statement, (the case of the Vietnamese volleyball players) has been referred to the FIVB Disciplinary Commission for further assessment and we will not comment on it while this process is ongoing.
The FIVB takes gender equity issues seriously and fully trusts its regulations approved in 2020. According to these regulations, the FIVB uses documents as the first step, the FIVB Board of Directors reserves the right to approve additional tests in case of medical reasons or inconsistencies.
These rules ensure meaningful competition for all athletes participating in the gender category and also support the principles of inclusiveness,", the FIVB statement emphasized.
