Ayshan Abdulazimova: "We will worthily represent our country at the European Championship in Baku"

Members of the Azerbaijan national women's volleyball team will do their best for a successful result at the European Championship to be held in Baku in 2026.

The captain of the team, Ayshan Abdulazimova, made a statement to "Report" about this.

The experienced player spoke about the tournament's draw ceremony held in Bari, Italy:

"It is a pride for me to represent our country at this event. The event was very well organized. It was exciting to attend such a ceremony."

She reminded that the Azerbaijani national team will be in Group C:

"The matches in this group will be held in our country. Our opponents are the national teams of Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Romania and Spain. As I always say, there is no weak team in the European Championship. Since it is the final stage, the teams participate with their main and strong squads. It is too early to give a concrete opinion about the games. When the national team season starts and the preparation process starts, I can give a more accurate answer. I can only note that we volleyball players will do our best to represent our country worthily and achieve successful results."

It should be noted that the games of Group C will be held in our country, which is one of the hosts of the European Championship. Our national team's rivals in this group will be Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Romania and Spain. Our team must be in the top 4 in the group to qualify for the 1/8 finals.

The European Championship will be hosted by Azerbaijan, Turkey, Czech Republic and Sweden from August 21 to September 6, 2026.
