Five-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one, Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova admitted that stubbornness hindered her at the end of her career.
Idman.Biz reports that Maria Sharapova was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2025.
"Stubbornness was a great quality that helped me win a lot of victories. But towards the end of my career, I think it became a disadvantage because I was so stubborn about recovering, about rehabbing my shoulder. And also I was at an age where my body didn't recover that quickly. And so for a year or two, that stubbornness prevented me from achieving other great results in my life," Sharapova said on The David Rubenstein Show.
Maria won 39 WTA titles. Sharapova ended her career in 2020.
