Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in March 2025 between the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) and the Polish Anti-Doping Agency (POLADA), a delegation led by Michal Rinkovski, Director of POLADA and Chairman of the Monitoring Group of the Council of Europe's Anti-Doping Convention, paid a working visit to our country.
Sport24.az reports that during the visit, the Executive Director of AMADA, Tahmina Taghi-zade, met with the delegation. During the meeting, the obligations arising from the Memorandum of Understanding, areas for the development of mutual cooperation and issues of common interest were widely discussed. The parties emphasized the importance of promoting a clean sports environment, strengthening awareness among athletes, implementing joint projects in the fight against doping, and exchanging experiences.
The meeting also discussed topical issues related to the application of international anti-doping standards, compliance with the requirements established by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and the implementation of the Council of Europe Anti-Doping Convention. Also, within the framework of future cooperation plans, the possibilities of organizing anti-doping trainings, developing laboratory capabilities, and implementing joint educational programs to support athletes were considered.
Then, the parties shared their concerns about the "Enhanced Games" competition, which is scheduled to be held in Las Vegas in May 2026 and openly promotes doping, emphasizing that such initiatives pose a serious threat to the health of athletes and the principles of clean sports. It was especially noted that such events contradict fair competition in sports and have a negative impact on young people.
The parties emphasized the importance of adhering to international anti-doping policy and noted the importance of strengthening cooperation in this direction at the regional and international levels. In conclusion, it was stated that such visits and partnerships will make an important contribution to the promotion of clean sports values not only in the local but also in the international sports community.
