The medals to be presented at the World Aquatics Championships are made from aluminum beverage cans.
Idman.biz reports that a total of 77 sets of medals are being contested at the competition.
According to the organizing committee, 100,000 aluminum cans were collected for the tournament, and 5,000 medals were made from them. This initiative is called "Trash to Treasure," and Singaporean schoolchildren and students actively participated in the campaign.
Each medal weighs approximately 150 grams, and about 20 recycled cans were used to make one medal.
It should be noted that the World Championships held in Singapore started on July 11 and will last until August 3.
