Sofia Polikarpova, a two-time European champion among visually impaired swimmers, has been disqualified for violating anti-doping rules.
"Report" reports that the press service of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency announced this.
Her doping test sample came back positive. The 23-year-old athlete's disqualification period is calculated from March 20, 2024.
It should be noted that Sofia Polikarpova won gold medals in the 100-meter freestyle and backstroke events in the S11 class at the 2021 European Championships, as well as a silver medal in the 50-meter freestyle. She also finished fifth in the 100-meter freestyle event at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
