The 32nd Summer Universiade, held in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany, has started with individual saber and épée fencing competitions.
Idman.biz reports that our female épée fencers Aynur Guliyeva (4 wins) and Nazila Rahimova (3 wins) successfully passed the group stage and advanced to the playoffs.
Khadija Hasanli, who had 1 win in the group, stopped the fight. Nazila Rahimova lost to Polina Khaertdinova, who participated as a neutral athlete, with a score of 13:15 in the match for reaching the top "32". Aynur Guliyeva lost to Anne Lieve Bultink from Belgium with a score of 12:15.
Our female épée fencers will compete in the team competition on July 20.
In the individual competition of male sabre fencers, Maqsud Huseynli, Saleh Mammadov and Murad Akbarov tested their strength.
