Spanish figure skater Tomas-Llorens Guarino Sabate has announced that Universal Studios has allowed him to use music from the "Minions" (animated film) franchise in his short program at the Winter Olympic Games 2026.
Idman.Biz reports that the media previously reported that the athlete was considering changing the musical accompaniment due to copyright issues. However, after widespread support from fans, Universal reconsidered its position and officially authorized the use of the music for the Olympic performance.
"Infinite thanks to everyone who shared and supported. Thanks to you, Universal Studios reconsidered its decision and gave official authorization for this particular case. There are still a few things left to do with the other two musical fragments in the program, but we are very close to an agreement. I am happy that the "Minions" will become a reality again on the Olympic ice," the Spanish figure skater wrote on his social media account.
It should be reminded that the Winter Olympic Games 2026 will be held in Italy from February 6 to 22. At the upcoming Olympics, Azerbaijan will be represented in figure skating by Vladimir Litvintsev, and in alpine skiing by Anastasia Papatoma.
