The international tournament among Turkic-speaking countries held in Aktau, Kazakhstan, provided great experience and motivation to the Azerbaijani boccia Paralympic team.
Sona Aghayeva, a member of the national team, made a statement to "Report" about this.
She shared her thoughts about the competition:
"The tournament went very well. Both the organization and the attitude towards the players were excellent. It was felt that everyone loves this sport and the boccia family is growing. This was our team's second international competition, and we believed in each other. The results also showed this belief. I think this competition gave us not only medals, but also great experience and motivation. These successes are not only ours. I would like to express my special thanks to our coaching staff. I am grateful for their patience, support, and the strength they give us with just one look, saying 'you can do it'. Without them, these results would not have been achieved."
Sona Aghayeva also spoke about the upcoming goals:
"Now we have turned our eyes to the future. I am sure that we will have our say both individually and as a team. Our only goal is to represent our country properly at the Paralympics to be held in 2028. I wish success to myself and all my teammates. Every competition is a new step, and we are taking these steps confidently."
It should be noted that Nariman Pirguliyev (BC1), Orkhan Karimov (BC2), Zaur Veysalov (BC4), Sona Aghayeva (BC2), and Gunel Rzazade (BC4) won gold medals at the competition held in Aktau. In addition, in the doubles competitions, the Zaur Veysalov and Gunel Rzazade tandem won in the BC4 category, and the Nariman Pirguliyev, Orkhan Karimov, and Sona Aghayeva trio won gold in the BC1 and BC2 mixed categories.
