"Our emotions are very high. But we are trying to stay calm. Because the swimming competitions will continue for 4 more days."
Idman.Biz reports with reference to AZERTAC that these words were said by Azerbaijani swimmer Fatima Alkaramova, who won a bronze medal in the 4x200 meters freestyle relay among women at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, in an interview with journalists. She said that they will try to bring more medals to Azerbaijan: "We did our best in the relay race. I believe that we will show better results in other relays and win medals individually as well."
Fatima Alkaramova emphasized that they had a very difficult path during the preparation for the Islamiada: "We had hard training. You know that new coaches have come to the team. Also, Rashad Abdurrahmanov helped us a lot. During the preparation period, we had already determined in which distances we could win medals."
Another member of the team, Mehri Abdurrahmanli, said that taking 3rd place in the competition was very important for the team: "We worked very hard for this result. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to us. We have several more competitions ahead. I believe that our team will increase the number of our medals with a great performance. Because we have undergone very serious preparation for this."
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented by 179 athletes in 20 sports at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games. In total, 57 countries are competing for medals in 23 sports.
The closing ceremony of the Games will be held on November 21.
