US President Donald Trump hosted the US national hockey team, the gold medalist of the 2026 Winter Olympics, at the White House.
İdman.Biz reports that only 20 of the 25 hockey players on the team attended the meeting in the Oval Office.
"I recognized everyone. I know each and every one of you. They are big boys," Trump said and shook hands with the athletes.

Among those who did not attend the meeting were goalkeeper Jake Oettinger ("Dallas"), defender Jackson LaCombe ("Anaheim"), forwards Jake Guentzel ("Tampa"), Kyle Connor ("Winnipeg") and Brock Nelson ("Colorado").

According to reports, Nelson, LaCombe, Guentzel and Oettinger were born in Minnesota or spent their childhood there. The athletes' move is seen as a sign of protest, as the Trump administration's tightening of immigration policy in that state has led to a number of tragic events.
It should be reminded that the US women's national team, which was also an Olympic champion, had previously refused to meet with Trump.
