President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the Yevlakh Olympic Sports Complex on September 27.
AZERTAC reports that the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov informed the head of state about the conditions created in the complex.
It was reported that the area of the complex, the construction of which began in 2024, is 5.8 hectares. There are outdoor sports grounds, a stadium, a universal sports hall with 1100 seats, wrestling, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, boxing, kickboxing, taekwondo, karate, fitness and exercise halls, and a swimming pool. In addition, the complex will also feature a meeting hall, a cafe, rooms for judges, coaches, doctors, commentators, a restaurant, and a 42-bed hotel building.
Boxing competitions during the III Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States, hosted by Azerbaijan, will be held at the Yevlakh Olympic Sports Complex.
As a result of the purposeful work done in the field of sports in recent years, Azerbaijan has become one of the main centers where international competitions are held. The successful organization of World and European Championships in various sports, as well as prestigious events such as the First European Games, Islamic Solidarity Games, and Formula 1, has demonstrated Azerbaijan's high organizational skills in this field. The holding of the III Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Azerbaijan is also a manifestation of the trust of the international sports community in our country.
Undoubtedly, Azerbaijan's recognition as a sports country in the world, the selection of our country for holding prestigious sports events is also related to the creation of modern sports infrastructure in our regions, along with the capital Baku.
