Piper Gilles, representing Canada, made an important confession after winning a bronze medal at the Olympic Games with her ice dancing partner Paul Poirier.
Idman.Biz, citing "Golden Skate", reports that the figure skater revealed that she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer three years ago.
Gilles noted that she couldn't even imagine such success at that time: this is an indication that they are humans first, then athletes. She emphasized that this is a good example for anyone going through difficult times, struggling with psychological or health problems.
The athlete added that everything is possible if a person can simply get out of bed, believe in themselves, and pursue their dreams. Gilles said she was proud of this achievement and that it was important to show who they are.
