US Paralympic swimmer Robert Griswold has been banned for life from the Games for sexually assaulting a teammate.
Idman.Biz reports that the decision was made after the completion of an investigation that lasted several years.
According to the investigation's findings, Griswold, who suffers from cerebral palsy from childhood, sexually assaulted an autistic Paralympic woman during the Tokyo Games.
The claim states that the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee, along with the "SafeSport" center established in 2017, also concealed the crime for a long time. After the court hearing, the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) decided to ban the swimmer from the competition for life.
Due to confidentiality, the name of the victimized athlete was not disclosed for some time.
