Tembo Jona, the husband of Azerbaijani Paralympic champion Lamia Valiyeva, may receive a positive response to his involvement in the national team.
İdman.Biz reports, citing report.az, that this was stated by the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation (AAF).
The organization emphasized that the athlete, originally from the Republic of South Africa, participates as a club representative in various competitions organized by the AAF and is currently not a member of the national team:
"An application has been received from the athlete regarding his desire to represent Azerbaijan. The issue has been discussed by the national team coaches, and based on this, certain standards have been determined. If Tembo Con meets these standards, a positive response to his desire to represent our country is possible."
Let us remind you that Lamia Valiyeva won a gold medal in the 400 meters at the Tokyo-2020 Summer Paralympic Games and in the 100 meters at the Paris-2024 Paralympics.
Tembo Con became the champion in the 60-meter race at the International Winter Tournament held in Baku on January 30.
