The solemn opening ceremony of the III CIS Games was held in Ganja on September 28.
Lent.az reports that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva watched the event.
First, the tricolor flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan was brought to the arena and raised to the sounds of our National Anthem.
Then there was a solemn parade of athletes from the countries participating in the III CIS Games.
At the opening ceremony, the Azerbaijani flag was brought to the arena by our karate fighter Asiman Gurbanli and taekwondo fighter Zemfira Hasanzade.
Then the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the III CIS Games Samir Sharifov and the Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Nurlan Seytimov spoke.
Then there was a swearing-in ceremony for athletes and their coaches.
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev declared the III CIS Games open.
The event continued with an artistic part.
