The opening ceremony of the 32nd Summer World University Games has started in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany.
According to the correspondent of Idman.biz, who was sent to Germany, the event is being held at the MSV arena in Duisburg.
Heavy rain started in the Rhine-Ruhr region, where the Universiade is being held, in the morning. The rain, which continued with short interruptions until the evening, stopped exactly two hours before the start of the ceremony. The ceremony was opened by Hendrik Wüst, the Prime Minister of the North Rhine-Westphalia region. He noted that preparations have been made in the last few years to organize the Multi-sport competition and expressed his hope that it will be held successfully. Wüst added that the Universiade is a great challenge for both participants and organizers. He concluded his welcoming speech with: "Feel at home".
The competition will be held in Berlin, Bochum, Essen, Mülheim and Hagen, as well as Duisburg. Our country will be represented in 12 sports at the Universiade. Our team includes 71 athletes.
It should be noted that 234 sets of awards will be presented in 18 sports at the Multi-sport competition.
