Former alpine ski star and Olympic ski cross medalist Audun Grönvold has died at the age of 49.
Idman.biz reports that the Norwegian died as a result of a tragic accident.
Grönvold was seriously injured after being struck by lightning near his mountain home during a hike and later died in hospital.
It should be noted that he won three World Cup stages in ski cross and won a bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
