"The European Games were proof that Azerbaijan is a sports country."
Idman.biz, referring to "Report," reports that this was stated by Chingiz Huseynzade, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), in a statement to journalists after the meeting of the Executive Committee of the institution.
He shared his thoughts on the discussions held at the meeting of the Executive Committee: "We have announced the competition 'Artificial Intelligence and Innovation in Sports.' Anyone from any country can join. At the meeting, we approved the members of the jury. There will also be representatives of the European Olympic Committee and the Turkish Olympic Committee on the jury because the next Games will be held in Turkey. At the same time, Tunzale Agayeva, the representative of the National Olympic Committee and the ambassador of the European Games, as well as Rasul Chunayev, the European wrestling champion, have been included in this group."
Huseynzade also spoke about the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF): "The European Youth Olympic Festival will be held in Skopje in July. We will participate in this competition with a large team. Current issues were discussed in this regard."
The NOC Vice President added that the committee has not received a specific response from the Organizing Committee of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games regarding the medals of Azerbaijani athletes that have lost their quality and been returned.
He stated that they have done the necessary work regarding the replacement of the medals awarded at Paris 2024: "We have done the necessary work regarding the process. We have submitted all the information to the International Olympic Committee. The International Olympic Committee has forwarded this issue to the Organizing Committee of Paris 2024. The Organizing Committee is almost no longer functioning. Some of its structures remain. Now these structures are dealing with the issue. We have not yet received a specific answer. But they have promised to resolve this issue."
It should be noted that noticeable changes have occurred in the medals of five of the seven athletes who won awards at Paris 2024. With the exception of Olympic judo champion Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and freestyle wrestling bronze medalist Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg), the gold medal of Olympic judo champion Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kg), the silver medals of taekwondo practitioner Gashim Magomedov (58 kg), boxer Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg), and the bronze medals of Greco-Roman wrestler Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg) and freestyle wrestler Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) have lost their quality.
