A protest against the Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, has been marked by tense moments.
İdman.Biz reports, citing "ABC News", that police used tear gas and water cannons against dozens of protesters on Saturday. Demonstrators threw flares and tried to get onto a highway near one of the Olympic venues.

The incident occurred at the end of a march attended by thousands of people. Protesters were objecting to the environmental damage caused by the Games, as well as the presence of US agents on Italian soil. After the confrontation, police detained aggressive groups, preventing them from advancing towards the Olympic hockey arena in the Santanculiya district.

Earlier, masked protesters threw smoke bombs and flares from a bridge over a construction site about 800 meters from the Olympic Village. The road to the athletes' village, which houses approximately 1,500 athletes, was temporarily closed with metal barriers. The march then changed direction, heading towards the Santanculiya area. Increased police control was organized along the route.
