Azerbaijani taekwondo fighter Mehdi Budaqli defeated his Armenian opponent at the XVIII European Youth Summer Olympic Festival.

The world and European champion, competing in the 48 kg weight category, was declared the winner in the first stage because the opponent did not appear for the match. Our representative defeated Armenian Sergey Davtyan in the 1/16 finals and qualified for the next stage.
Mehdi Budaqli's opponent in the 1/8 finals will be Turkish Altuq Keske.
