A meeting of the Council for Physical Culture and Sports of the participants of the "Agreement on cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports of the participating States of the Commonwealth of Independent States" was held in Ganja.
"Report" informs that before the meeting, the participants laid bouquets of flowers at the Heydar Aliyev monument in front of the Heydar Aliyev Center, and then visited the Ganja Memorial Complex.
At the event, the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov welcomed the guests. The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan has created ample opportunities not only for professional athletes, but also for all citizens to engage in sports. Azerbaijan has the potential to hold any multi-sport competition at a high level. Sports have already become an integral part of people's daily lives not only in the capital Baku, but also in the regions. With state support, Olympic sports complexes, stadiums and other large sports facilities have been built in all regions of the country, and this process continues today. The Ganja Stadium, where the opening ceremony of the CIS Games was held, as well as the Yevlakh Olympic Sports Complex, which hosted boxing competitions, were recently commissioned with the participation of the head of state Ilham Aliyev.
Then the Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Nurlan Seytimov and the Head of the Sports Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Elnur Mammadov spoke.
At the meeting, information was provided on the competitions, seminars and meetings held in Ganja within the framework of the III CIS Games in 2025. The reports of the participating countries were also heard, the holding of the next CIS Games and other issues were discussed.
