French biathlete, Olympic medalist and 10-time world champion Julia Simon won her first individual World Cup victory after serving a period of disqualification. She finished first in the mass start race at the stage held in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic in the 2025/2026 season.
Idman.Biz reports that Simon had only reached the podium once before during the season. She took third place in the sprint race at the stage held in Oberhof, Germany. At the same stage, the French biathlete also won the relay race as part of the French national team.
It should be noted that 29-year-old Julia Simon was suspended from competitions for one month in November 2025 for receiving a suspended sentence in a fraud case involving bank cards. The biathlete started competing in official tournaments again from mid-December.
