French hockey player Pierre Crinon has been removed from the XXV Winter Olympic Games for fighting with opposing team member Tom Wilson in a match against Canada.
"Report" reports, citing the French Hockey Federation, that the athlete's actions were assessed as being contrary to the Olympic spirit and harmful to hockey values.
The organization's statement emphasized that every player wearing the French national team uniform must demonstrate exemplary behavior. According to a decision agreed upon with the National Olympic Committee and the Sports Committee, Crinon will not participate in the team's remaining games.
The incident occurred on February 15 in the third period of the match between Canada and France (10:2). Crinon knocked his opponent Tom Wilson to the ground and continued to hit him. Both hockey players received major penalties and were ejected from the game. As he left the field, Crinon continued his provocative actions against the Canadian substitutes' bench.
It should be noted that the XXV Winter Olympic Games will conclude on February 22.
