Italian speed skater Francesca Lollobrigida won the 3000m women's event at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, setting a new Olympic record.
"Report" informs that the athlete covered the distance in 3 minutes and 54.28 seconds.
Thus, she won the first gold medal for Italy. Norwegian athlete Ragne Wiklund took second place, 2.26 seconds behind the winner. Canadian Valerie Maltais won the bronze medal, 2.65 seconds behind.
The previous record (3:56.93 seconds) was set at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing and belonged to Ireen Wüst from the Netherlands.
