Following the separatist and provocative move by the Armenian side in the figure skating competitions at the 25th Winter Olympic Games, which caused a stir at the International Olympic level, the International Skating Union announced its position on the matter.
İdman.Biz reports that after the justified dissatisfaction of the Azerbaijani side, the International Skating Union (ISU) reviewed the issue and eliminated the falsification.
Thus, the International Skating Union announced that it reviewed the issue together with all interested parties and made changes to the official program list.
It should be reminded that the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan protested against the use of the music called "Artsakh" in the short program of figure skating by the Armenian couple Karina Akopova and Nikita Rakhmanin.
In turn, the International Skating Union stated that this choice contradicts the principles of political neutrality of the Olympic Charter. The statement emphasized that the Olympic Games are a symbol of peace, friendship and mutual respect. After the protest, the name of the music was changed on the official ISU website. Now the name of the work is not indicated in the program and is only noted as "Music by Ara Gevorgyan".
For information, the term "Artsakh" has been used by Armenia as a symbol of separatist policy against the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan.
