A female athlete will be the flag bearer of the III CIS Games to be held in Ganja and 6 other cities of Azerbaijan.
Idman.biz reports with reference to prosport.az that, unlike the previous 2 CIS Games, this time Azerbaijan's flag bearer was chosen not as a boy, but as a girl athlete.
Final clarifications are currently being made regarding the identity of that athlete. One of the candidates is karate athlete Inji Azizova. She is the winner of the I CIS Games held in Kazan in 2021.
Fatima Huseynli, the bronze medalist of the last Azerbaijan Archery Championship, is also among the candidates. In 2023, she took 3rd place in the archery mixed competition at the II CIS Games held in Mogilev, Belarus.
Khadija Hasanli, who competes in fencing with a sword, is also a candidate to carry our flag.
It should also be noted that this time there will be 2 flag bearers. One of them will go ahead during the opening of the general CIS Games. The other will carry our flag in front of the Azerbaijani delegation. The opening ceremony of the III CIS Games, which will start with table tennis competitions on September 26 and football competitions on September 27, will be held on the 28th of the month at the Ganja city stadium.
Let us remind you that our flag bearer was Hasrat Jafarov, a Greco-Roman wrestler, at the I CIS Games held in Kazan, Russia, and Elshad Manafov, a member of our national beach soccer team, at the II CIS Games held in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, and other cities.
